The financial crisis has led global policymakers to reconsider the ways in which financial instruments are traded on international markets. Policymakers worldwide have committed themselves to move significant amounts of the over-the-counter derivatives market on to organised trading venues. In Europe, significant proposals have been published in MiFID/MiFIR that would, among other things, improve pre- and post-trade transparency in both equity and non-equity markets.
