Introduction to Alternative Investments - Seminar Series

AIMA Cayman presents a seminar series aimed at those who are new to, or are seeking an insight into different aspects of, the alternative investment management industry. The series will explore different aspects of alternative investments from legal and regulatory issues to macro-economic considerations relevant to investment managers.

The seminars will be held in the ground floor meeting room of the Grand Cayman Beach Suites, West Bay Road (unless otherwise notified). Each seminar will begin at 4.30pm and will be followed by a drinks reception and an opportunity to meet and mix with friends and colleagues within the industry. Although targeted to those new to the industry, all AIMA Cayman members are welcome and encouraged to attend and to contribute through questions, insight and discussion from the floor.

• Seminar 1: An Introduction to Alternative Investments
• Wednesday, May 4, 2011 @ 4.30pm

An introduction to AIMA, AIMA Cayman and the seminar series; a general overview of the evolution of investment funds, the regulatory and legislative environment around them and the development of Cayman as the domicile of choice; a brief overview of the development of the Cayman financial services industry, including a look at the facts and fictions relating to issues of systemic risk, transparency and cooperation and recent US, UK and EU legislative initiatives and their potential impact on Cayman.
